Ah, C. mirabilis, it stays the most difficult one to grow.
I have six plants, but even my oldest ones from 2005 are
not of flowering size. The biggest was repotted this year, what he didn't liked.
Two of his leaves got brown edges and the new leaf grows very slow.
Which brings me to the (maximum) growth speed of mirabilis at my place: 2 leaves per year.
How many leaves they produce in nature per growth season is not known, but what I have seen in nature is that it also depends on the place they grow. Some plants have only the limited number of about 12 mature leaves, others grow in a clump and look like producing more leaves per annum.
What number of leaves are produced in 'captivity' in SA I don't know, but I will ask around.
